Overview of the Triconex 3723X Discrete Input Module

The Triconex 3723X is a high-integrity discrete input module engineered for Triconex Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) safety and control systems. It is designed to acquire and validate digital ON/OFF signals from field devices such as limit switches, pressure switches, push buttons, relays, and dry contacts.

Unlike standard PLC input cards, the 3723X operates within a fully fault-tolerant TMR architecture. Each field signal is processed by three independent input paths, and a built-in voting mechanism determines the final safe state delivered to the safety controller.

TMR Architecture and Safety Integrity

In the Triconex 3723X, every discrete input channel is triplicated internally. The system continuously compares input states and masks any faulty channel automatically. As a result, the controller maintains deterministic operation even during hardware failures.

This design supports Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) that require high availability, fast fault detection, and predictable response behavior in hazardous industrial environments.
