Overview of the Triconex 3515 Pulse Input Module

The Triconex 3515 is a Pulse Input (PI) module designed for use in Triconex Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) safety systems. It is used to acquire high-integrity pulse and frequency signals from field devices such as flow meters, turbine meters, encoders, and totalizers.

The module incorporates optical isolation to electrically separate field wiring from system electronics, significantly improving noise immunity and protecting the Triconex controller from transient voltages and ground loops. This makes the 3515 suitable for safety-critical pulse counting and totalization applications in demanding industrial environments.

Pulse Acquisition and Isolation Design

The 3515 processes pulse signals through optically isolated input channels, ensuring accurate detection of high-speed and low-level pulse signals. Optical isolation allows signal transmission using light rather than direct electrical coupling, enhancing system robustness and long-term reliability.
